OMC Chrome Ore prices have been very volatile in H2 CY19. The scenario of Ferro Chrome in the global market mostly drives the Chrome Ore prices. However, the prices of Chrome ore have been taking an interesting turn after mid-August, when the supply disruptions in Odisha created havoc among the producers of Ferro Chrome as many went out of stock. Therefore, in September the prices rose by 25% M-o-M in line with a supply shortage of the Chrome Ore in the market.

The Odisha Mining Corporation Ltd intends to sell various grades of chrome ore (friable) produced at South Kaliapani chromite mines and Sukrangi chromite mines of OMC Ltd in the Sukinda valley of JK Road Region, Jajpur Dist Odisha. OMC Ltd has decided to use the service of MSTC Ltd (a Govt. of India Undertaking) to conduct e-auction for selling off its ( OMC ) chrome ore. OMC increased the base prices of all grades of Chrome Ore by 15% for October Chrome Ore Auctions in line with the shortage of chrome ore availability with the producers.

Odisha’s state-owned miner- Odisha Mining Corporation ( OMC ) had scheduled its iron ore fines e-auction yesterday (21st Oct’19). Total quantity put under the auction was 276,000 MT iron ore fines. Entire offered quantity was booked registering sharp increase over set base price.

State-Owned, Odisha Mining Corporation ( OMC ) conducted the e-auction on 13 Aug’19. Despite low demand in the market, and falling Ferro Chrome prices, OMC received a good response, as the entire quantity was booked at prices approximately 6% higher than the base price. Lower graded material viz., 46-48% and 44-46% received a much higher response as the booking price was 14% higher than the base price.

Public sector steel maker Neelachal Ispat Nigam Ltd (NINL) has been finally made to bite the bullet. The steel plant co-promoted by trading company MMTC Ltd and two Odisha government controlled undertakings- Odisha Mining Corporation ( OMC ) and Ipicol, has gone for a shutdown of its blast furnace at its Duburi plant in Odisha’s Kalinganagar industrial complex.
