Vedanta Lanjigarh conducting CSR health initiatives and sensitization programmes for COVID-19

While the entire nation is preparing for battling the lethal COVID-19, the news comes that even Vedanta’s Lanjigarh alumina refinery is conducting awareness and sensitization programmes in the community on account of the virus outbreak. The team has already reached out to more than 14 villages for raising awareness on the disease.

Mr. Rakesh Mohan, Chief Operating Officer of Vedanta’s Lanjigarh unit, has reportedly urged the team to offer dedicated service on raising awareness. He said, “In these dire circumstances, Vedanta is taking a proactive step to raise awareness on preventive measures against Corona Virus. Our aim is to ensure that the communities are aware of the outbreak and take optimal measures to prevent contracting it. I urge the community to stand strong at these times and practice basic hygiene, sanitation, and preventive methods. We are sensitizing our employees and business partners within the plant as well.”

He also said The Community Health Awareness and Mobile Health Unit teams of Vedanta Hospital, Lanjigarh, have introduced the Corona infection prevention and control programme in the neighbouring communities. The programmes are aimed at educating people and sharing protective measures with relevant information from the Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials shared in the World Health Organisation (WHO) and Odisha Govt. websites.

Besides, the teams assigned by Vedanta Lanjigarh have placed information banners and communiques in strategic locations in the villages and panchayat offices, emphasizing on social distancing, personal hygiene, intake of a healthy and balanced diet, and basic sanitation practices in households.
