Australian iron ore exports picked up amid recently tightened pollution control norms in Tangshan, led the Chinese mills demand rise for high and medium grade ore. Iron ore inventory at major Chinese ports dropped to 129.4 MnT towards Nov’19 end as against 131.65 MnT end of Oct’19, as per data compiled by SteelHome consultancy.
For CY’19 (Jan-Nov), the total Australian iron ore exports dropped to 768.42 MnT as against 775.47 MnT for the same period CY’18 (Jan-Nov18).
Australian exports to China up 5% in Nov’19:
China marked the largest importer of Australian iron ore in Nov'19 at 59.07 MnT, up 6% as against 55.99 MnT in Oct’19. Japan stood second-largest importer for the month at 5.06 MnT (up 7% M-o-M) followed by Korea at 4.89 MnT.
Australian exports to India recorded nil for the eighth consecutive month in Nov’19.
