India: Vedanta Concludes 35,000 MT Pig Iron Export Deal to China

Indian pig iron manufacturer - Vedanta has recently concluded pig iron export deal to China last week, as per market sources report to SteelMint. The company is heard to have concluded 35,000 MT basic grade pig iron export deal to China for Nov shipment at around USD 330/MT, CFR China.

The pig iron exported in recent deal had specifications as follows: C- 3.5% and Si - 1.25% max.

Located in Goa, Vedanta has a pig iron plant of 0.8 MnT pa capacity and is amongst India's top 3 Indian pig iron exporters.

In the month of Aug'19, another Indian mill concluded granulated pig iron export deal to China. Higher cost of raw material like imported iron ore with production restrictions by Chinese govt is compelling local mills to explore possibility of importing metallic and semis.

Also a  month back, SteelMint reported that an Indian mill concluded export deals of granulated pig iron being concluded to Bangladesh.
