Singapore bunker sales in July sustain falls

Singapore marine fuels sales in July totalled 3.88mn t, down by 42,000t from June and 158,000t from July last year, provisional data from Singapore's Maritime and Port Authority (MPA) show.

This is the seventh consecutive month of falling bunker sales at the port against a year earlier. Bunker sales are now down by 1.8mn t or 6.12pc during January-July compared with the same period last year.

Argus reported an average of 21 bunker deals each day in July, up slightly from 20 in June.

Consumption of 380cst high-sulphur fuel oil (HSFO) remained stable at 2.78mn t in July from June. Sales of the higher viscosity 500cst HSFO fell to 689,000t in July from 717,000t the previous month.

Demand for low-sulphur marine gasoil fell to 217,000t in July from 231,000t in June.

Singapore's delivered 380cst HSFO prices averaged $450/t in July, up from $385/t in June, data collected by Argus showed.

An estimated 3,348 vessels called at Singapore to refuel in July, up from 3,284 vessels during the previous month, according to the MPA.
