This 360,000 t/yr MEG production line will have a four-week-long overhaul and resume production in mid-September. Nan Ya subsequently then plans another four-week turnaround at its 360,000 t/yr No.3 MEG unit in line with its upstream cracker's maintenance.

Nan Ya's largest MEG production line, the 720,000 t/yr No.4 MEG unit, will have a month-long overhaul in November for a catalyst change.

Nan Ya has already had maintenance at its No.3 and No.4 lines in February and July respectively. It has four MEG production lines at Mailiao totalling 1.8mn t/yr.

Negative production margins are the reason for Nay Ya deciding to have two turnarounds at its MEG production lines this year. Naphtha-based MEG production margins were around $20/t lower than breakeven in first-half August, according to Argus data.
