Semi finished products occupied the major share. Exports of semi finished products were recorded 1.42 MnT which is 65.27% of the total export. However, the commodity still witnessed a Y-o-Y decline of 23%. Billet and bloom occupied the largest share of semis export with an aggregate 904,000 MT marking 14% Y-o-Y decline. Slab followed with 521,000 MT, down 35% Y-o-Y.
Finished steel products witness a Y-o-Y rise of 20% to reach 758,000 MT. Long steel products had the major share of finished products with a total of 561,000 MT to register 53% growth Y-o-Y. Flat steel exports were recorded at 197,000 MT to register a Y-o-Y decline of 26%.
Steel imports drop 67%
Import of almost all steel products fell during the three-month period compared to the same period last year. The ISPA report shows steel imports stood at 96,000 MT in the three months to June 21, to register 67.9% decline Y-o-Y.
Imports mostly included flat steel products with 68,000 MT, down 73% Y-o-Y, while that of long products were recorded at 27,000 MT to register a Y-o-Y decline of 27%
9% Growth in Steel Output
The ISPA report shows steelmakers produced 11 MnT of products during Q1 to register 9.7% growth compared to the same Q1 the year before. Semi-finished steel made up 6.63 MnT of the total output, up 5% YOY.
Semis Apparent Usage Up 17%
Iran's apparent steel usage stood at 5.21 MnT for semis, up 17%; and hit 4.6 MnT for finished products, up 9% Y-o-Y.
While for semis, usage of billet and bloom grew 31% to 3.03 MnT, while that of slab dropped 2% to 2.17 MnT.
