Fives integrates an ABB YuMi® collaborative robot to demonstrate the potential of this new technology for the automotive industry

Within Fives Group, the Automation team (Facility in Montévrain, near Paris, France) has developed a collaborative robotic cell to assemble small sub-components for one major car manufacturer in Europe.
Fives integrates an ABB YuMi® collaborative robot to demonstrate the potential of this new technology for the automotive industry

This totally safe and collaborative application shows that robotics can be integrated into an assembly process line, with interaction between operators and robots working altogether: the robot makes the small assembly operation and gives the sub-component to the operator who puts it on the vehicle.

This demonstration shows the potential of collaborative robot technology for the future of the automotive industry, placing the human operator at the center of the process while integrating robotic applications in a totally safe working environment. Fives brings expertise in integrating innovation to go beyond current technological solutions.

This application remains at a demonstration stage but brings new perspectives for the factory of the future.
