Top slab quality and reliability at voestalpine Stahl

Austrian leader releases FAC for CC8 caster supplied by Danieli
Top slab quality and reliability at voestalpine Stahl

Top slab quality achieved right from the very beginning, process and equipment reliability, and an impressive ramp-up distinguished the startup of CC8 caster at voestalpine Stahl in Linz, Austria.

After 5 weeks the newly supplied caster was already producing on 5 shifts, and during the first 22 weeks covered almost all the contractual steel grades.

CC8 caster has been producing slabs with a nominal thickness of 225 mm and widths ranging from 800 mm up to 1,820 mm in a product mix including electrical steels with a silicon content greater than 2.0%, ULC, LC, structural steels (including micro-alloyed), press hardening grades, HC.

The caster is equipped with the most advanced Danieli technological packages, and Danieli Rotelec in-mould and strand electromagnetic stirring devices allow consistent production of exposed grades for automotive.

These results come from excellent teamwork between voestalpine Stahl and Danieli.
