ICT ministers of Iran, Russia, Azerbaijan and Turkey discussed the creation of a regional pact on infomation and communications technology.

Iran ICT Minister Mohammad Javad Azari Jahromi held talks with Russian Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media Minister Konstantin Noskov, Azerbaijan's ICT Minister Ramin Qolizadeh and OmerAbdulah Karagozoglu, president of Turkey's Information and Communication Technologies Authority, in Tehran on Wednesday.

Iran's ICT minister said such a pact could "help foster digital economy in the region and protect it against the unilateralism of other countries.”

"It about one year that we are working closely with Russia, Turkey and Azerbaijan towards our mutual goal ... which is formation of a regional market for ICT products and services,” the ministry's website quoted him as saying during a press conference.
