Dr. Mehdi Karbasian - the head of Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) - in a media meeting about 4th Iran International Aluminium Conference 2016 (IIAC 2016) in Tehran about the upcoming visit of South Korean President from Iran in current week announced that Iran and South Korea will sign MOU which is worth one Billion Euros about new technologies of using iron ore to produce steel. The mentioned MOU will be between IMIDRO and Posco.
He added in new technology of Posco concentrate and pellets will be omitted and according to some processes iron ore and coal will lead to furnaces and finally we will have steel. This technology is the newest one in the world and only some plants in South Korea are working by this technology. The large amount of Iranian iron ore is below 50-60 % Fe and producing steel from this kind of iron ore by this technology will be economical.
About two months ago, Dr. Karbasian told "Finex" is a new technology and we will use this technology in Chabahar , Sistan and Balochestan Province, Iran to produce steel.
Mohammadreza Nikou Sokhan - Marketing and International Affairs Manager of IRITEC Co. - formerly expressed that Posco wants to invest in Iran and has established a project and also investment company in cooperating with Iranian company "PKP" and IRITEC is ready to cooperate with them in EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction).
