A Transformation in the Khorasan Steel Complex Supply Chain

Official Launch of Dedicated Customs Warehouse at Khorasan Steel Complex

me-metals: By the commissioning of its first dedicated customs warehouse, Khorasan Steel Complex has marked a milestone in import management and the reduction of operational costs.

According to me-metals, the arrival of the first transit shipment at Khorasan Steel’s dedicated customs warehouse in the 3rd week of July 2026 marked the culmination of months of efforts to secure the necessary legal permits and the beginning of a new era in streamlining customs procedures at the largest steelmaking complex in eastern Iran.

The acting deputy head of procurement at Khorasan Steel Complex said the facility was launched in line with the company’s strategic objectives and to ensure the sustainability of raw material supplies. He added that managing warehousing costs and customs demurrage charges has always been one of the key challenges facing cargo owners. Given Khorasan Steel Complex’s continuous need to procure equipment, machinery and raw materials through global markets, the establishment of a dedicated customs warehouse has addressed this challenge through a new and strategic approach.

Hadi Raisi added that securing this infrastructure, for the first time in the company’s history, represents a strategic step toward establishing a sustainable and agile supply chain that will significantly transform the import process.

Referring to the key benefits of operating the dedicated warehouse, he said this strategic capacity would provide the complex with multiple advantages, the most important of which include eliminating warehousing and demurrage costs; improving the management of imported goods and enabling more precise supply-chain planning; conducting customs valuation and goods inspections on site; accelerating the customs clearance process; eliminating the process of moving and loading goods from the customs facility to Khorasan Steel Complex; and enabling the immediate delivery of raw materials, equipment and other imported data-x-items after customs clearance, given the warehouse’s location on the company’s premises.

The acting deputy head of procurement at Khorasan Steel Complex concluded by emphasizing that the arrival of the first shipment at the dedicated warehouse is not merely a physical movement of goods. Rather, it marks the beginning of utilizing a strategic capacity to enhance production agility and provide effective support for the industrial processes of Khorasan Steel Complex.
